The Department of Testing and Accreditation was established under Decision No. 215/QD-DHKT-TCHC dated July 28, 2006, signed and issued by the Principal. The Department of Testing and Accreditation was renamed the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance according to Decision No. 915/QD-DHKT-TCHC dated July 15, 2008 signed and issued by the Rector.

On February 27, 2014, the Rector signed Decision No. 542/QD-DHKT-TCHC to establish a new Department of Quality Assurance - Program Development on the basis of merging the Quality Assurance Department of the Department of Testing - Quality Assurance and the Program Development Department of the Department of Science Management - International Cooperation.

On January 6, 2025, the Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics signed Decision No. 162/QD-DHKT-PTTNCL newly established the Quality Assurance and Internal Control Department on the basis of merging the Quality Assurance - Curriculumn Development Department and the Inspection - Legal Department.
